Child Life Love

Happy Child Life Month! March has become my favorite month of the year because I get to unashamedly celebrate what I do everyday (I frequently celebrate how awesome this profession is, but it's fun to shout it from the roof tops one month out of the year). This month is about so many things; celebrating the work that child life specialists do, spreading the word about this profession and the vital role it plays within the healthcare system, encouraging students and showing them that there is good to go along with the tough of this job, and recognizing yourself for all the tough days you put in.

This year is extra special because it is the first year I get to celebrate through the Captivated By Child Life blog. One year ago I decided to start this blog journey and I am so ecstatic to have others interested in tagging along with me. I feel so incredibly lucky to have contact with so many professionals and child life students, I love sharing this passion with you all. I'm going to start off my child life month celebrations this year by sharing my top three moments with the Captivated By Child Life blog.

1. March 2018: My first blog post where I shared the reason for why I started Captivated By Child Life and then shared a little about my journey to child life. Read it here

2. October 2018: Started being able to recognize some of my amazing child life peers and child life students through guest blogs. The first was advice surrounding applications, then we got an inside look at the Hawkeye Wave, and lastly followed by the student perspective regarding the waiting game.

3. January 2019: Launched the Captivated By Child Life Mentor Program. This has been one of the most exciting and fulfilling parts of this journey. I'm excited to share that the program already has 10 mentees enrolled with 5 CCLSs to support them through their goals.

I am so thankful for these big moments, and all the little ones in between. I can't wait to celebrate the rest of the month!
